Itinerary

09:00 – 09:15 | Pick-up & Welcome to the “Veranda of Mecca”

Good morning! Our team will pick you up at your hotel or meeting point. Our guide will brief you on today’s exciting adventure, where we will trace the footsteps of history, faith, and the extraordinary resilience of Banda Aceh.

09:15 – 10:45 | Visit & Reflection at the Aceh Tsunami Museum

Our first stop is a meaningful architectural masterpiece. We will walk through the poignant “Tsunami Alley,” see the “Well of Prayer” inscribed with the victims’ names, and learn about the devastating 2004 disaster and the resilience of the Acehnese people.

10:45 – 11:30 | Witnessing the Spectacle at PLTD Apung

This is a silent witness to the wave’s devastation. See for yourself the massive 2,600-ton ship that was washed 5 kilometers inland. A breathtaking sight that will leave you speechless, imagining the incredible power of nature.

11:30 – 12:00 | The Rescue Story at the “Boat on the Roof”

We visit a house in Lampulo where a fishing boat “landed” on its roof. This boat became a rescue ark for dozens of people during the disaster. It is a symbol of hope and unexpected salvation in the midst of tragedy.

12:00 – 13:15 | Authentic Acehnese Lunch

Time to refuel! We’ll stop for a rest and lunch. Our guide will recommend the best places to taste legendary local cuisine, such as Mie Aceh or Nasi Gurih.

13:15 – 14:30 | The Grandeur of the Spiritual Heart: Baiturrahman Grand Mosque

We visit the icon and spiritual heart of the Acehnese people. Admire the magnificent architecture, the 12 giant umbrellas in its courtyard, and feel the serenity inside the mosque, which also served as a shelter for thousands of souls during the tsunami. (Note: Modest dress is required).

14:30 – 15:30 | Back to the Past at the Aceh Museum & Rumoh Aceh

Explore the cultural heritage of the Aceh Sultanate. We will see the collection of historical artifacts in the museum and visit the “Rumoh Aceh”—an authentic traditional stilt house, filled with the life philosophies of the Acehnese people of the past.

15:30 – 16:30 | Closing the Day with Legendary Coffee Culture

A visit to Aceh isn’t complete without coffee. We’ll end the tour by relaxing at one of the legendary local coffee shops (warung kopi, like Solong or similar). Taste an authentic Kopi Sanger or Kopi Tarik and feel the social pulse of Acehnese society.

16:30 – 17:00 | Return to Hotel

Our adventure in Banda Aceh concludes. The guide will drop you off back at your accommodation with a new understanding of this extraordinary city.
